1. When you send someone a secure email from your BetterEmail account (SSL, web-based email system), that message is encrypted into our local email database. 
2. Instead of forwarding the message to the recipient, only a notification that a secure message has been delivered is sent (if the recipient is another BetterEmail member, the message goes directly into their BetterEmail inbox). 
3. The recipient clicks on the secure link included in the notification email, which takes them to a secure log-in screen (if they are not a current BetterEmail customer, they will quickly create a login ID). 
4. After the recipient logs in, they can view the message over an SSL (secure sockets layer) connection, which makes it impossible for the message to ever be intercepted. In addition, all activity within the BetterEmail site is constantly monitored and logged for extra security. 

BetterEmail accounts can only receive messages from other BetterEmail accounts.  This provides you with added security - the sender of any message you receive is always authenticated.

Additional features

You have the option of setting time to expire (TTE) tags on your emails.  This forces emails to self-destruct after a certain amount of time - adding yet another facet of security.
